About our Child Care & Preschool Center in Greensboro
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Lorien Gilliland. I am a Director of Childcare Network #298 on West Friendly Avenue. I have been a Director in Early Childhood since November 2004. My family and I moved from Wilmington, NC where I was a City Director for a multi-site Preschool company. I would like you to know how excited I am to be joining such an important group of professionals with Childcare Network. As your Director, I know that you trust us with your children for a variety of learning experiences. I pledge to support and honor that trust. Since I will be spending a great deal of time with your child(ren), allow me to share a little about myself.
Education has always been very important in my family; both of my parents are lifelong educators as well as my father being a minister. My undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. I have continued my education in Early Childhood Development and Administration and Business. I have been working in management in businesses in North Carolina and California since August 1997. My husband and I are happy to call Greensboro our home. We have two beautiful children, Anna and Tobias, who are the light of our lives. As a parent, I also understand the importance of trust, communication and a good education foundation.
Childcare Network honored our school with becoming the first Eco School of the company in April 2017. In becoming an Eco School our center focus is on ecological design, selection of learning materials with focus on environmental practices, training of teachers with use of eco-friendly curriculum instillations, involvement of parents and community outreach. Our center carries this Eco theme into every classroom. From our Bright Babies starting at six weeks to our Young Achievers in our After School program, every classroom is focused on ecological environments. During summer breaks, teacher workdays and holidays our Young Achievers go on fun and educational field trips. From trips to the farm, parks and even swimming, our school age children have fun filled and educational adventures. The facility has been totally remodeled to reflect ecologically based principles that create a connection between indoor and outdoor teaching spaces. Childcare Network proves the education foundation for each child to be successful throughout life with quality curriculum and activities for every age group. We are willing to work with every family to meet their needs, making us unlike any other child care provider in the area.
As the working parent’s best friend, we understand you are your child’s first teacher, and the Childcare Network family builds on those learning experiences to create a positive learning environment for your child. I look forward to working with you and your child in this exciting setting.
